Katha Phair holds the distinction of being a Certified Orofacial Myologist, an honor held by a small percentage of professionals practicing myofunctional therapy.
Katha Phair is recognized as an authority in the field of orofacial myology. Since 1975 she devoted her practice to the diagnosis and treatment of orofacial myofunctional disorders with a special emphasis on mouth breathing and tongue thrust. For over 40 years, Katha Phair worked with a variety of dentists, physicians, and health care specialists providing patient care as well as educating the community on the benefits of myofunctional therapy. In 2015, San Diego Center For Speech Therapy took over Katha’s practice when she retired. Before taking over her practice, Katha provided close to a year of specialized training to Nicole Goldfarb and Kris Schneider, both Speech-Language Pathologists and Orofacial Myologists from SDCST. Because of Katha’s wonderful reputation to the patients and physicians in the community, SDCST was intensely trained in her specific and specialized approaches to therapy. We are honored and privileged to have been trained by Katha and to have taken over her practice. We are also fortunate that Katha will continue to be a consultant to SDCST.
