Dr. Garrick. Li, PT, DPT, Cert. VRS, completed his undergraduate studies at UCSD where he received his Bachelor of Science in Biology with a Minor in Psychology. He received his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences where he specialized in musculoskeletal dysfunctions. His passion for manual therapy has guided him to take numerous orthopedic specialty courses ranging from advanced cervical techniques to lumbo-pelvic functional analysis.
Dr. Garrick. Li developed a particular interest in orofacial myofunctional disorders (OMDs) as related to oral rest posture issues, mouth breathing, malocclusion and deficient orofacial growth, airway dysfunction, sleep-disordered breathing, and the relationship of OMDs to the cervical spine, posture, body pain, fibromyalgia, migraines, tinnitus, TMJ issues, and overall health in both children and adults. When treating many physical therapy patients, Dr. Garrick. Li noticed a component of their treatment may be missing if there is an OMD that is not identified and addressed. Dr. Garrick. Li has specific training in orofacial myofunctional disorders and treatment from the Academy of Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy / Academy of Applied Myofunctional Sciences and also Nicole Goldfarb, M.A., CCC-SLP, COM. Dr. Garrick. Li truly understands the interrelationship of form and function of the orofacial system and the entire musculoskeletal system. He embraces the idea that addressing the orofacial system and treating orofacial myofunctional disorders is an important component to the overall well-being of the entire body.
Dr. Garrick first discovered his interest in rehabilitation while working as a physical therapy aide at the Stanford Student Health Center where he guided clients and student-athletes through treatment and therapeutic exercises to a return to their respective sports.
Dr. Garrick was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, where he has been an avid sports fan his entire life. Whether it’s playing football, rock climbing or training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Garrick believes it is important to stay active to live a fulfilling life. Dr. Garrick speaks fluent Cantonese-Chinese and is currently treating patients at Water & Sports Physical Therapy Scripps Ranch.
